The COVID-19 pandemic laid off thousands of Filipino overseas workers like Mr. Richard Bajador who worked as an airplane mechanic in Dubai. To cushion the impact of this development, the DOST came up with the Innovations for Filipinos Working Distantly from the Philippines (iFWD PH) Program for displaced OFWs.
Mr. Bajador has successfully completed Phases I and II of the iFWD PH Program and is now manufacturing a line of Chicharon under his own company called Chef Mechanic Lami Chicharon Manufacturing, which earns up to P1.5 million per year.
