SAN JUAN, Ilocos Sur- As part of the intervention under the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP), a demo-operation and training on the use of the de-oiling machine was conducted for the Malakas Farm Livelihood Development Enterprises (MFLDE) at Sitio Malakas, Brgy. Muraya, in this municipality, last 24 August 2021.

Five production workers including Robert G. Viloria, the owner of the firm, attended the training that enabled them to be familiar with the operation of the procured equipment under the DOST-SETUP.

This equipment is part of the Php220,000.00 assistance awarded last 4 June 2021 procured together with the Stainless-Steel Deep Sink, Preparation Table with Undershelf, Breading Table with Undershelf, Packaging Table with Undershelf, and the Stainless and Steel Deep Fryer.

Arthur Aubrey R. Alviar, Science Research Specialist II from the Provincial Science and Technology Center-Ilocos Sur (PSTC-IS) served as the resource person during the activity.

Viloria, together with his wife, Jessie C. Viloria, expressed their gratitude to the agency for assisting and providing them with the technological needs that will improve their mushroom chicharon products.

Through these interventions, the firm is expected to increase their productivity as well as equip them with good manufacturing practices in the preparation of their products.
