LGU-Asingan gets glass pulverizer from DOST-I, addresses solid waste management
In addressing the issue of solid waste management in Asingan, Pangasinan, the local government and the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office I (DOST-I), through its Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTC)- Pangasinan Field Office, banded together to provide the former with a glass pulverize last 04 August 2021.
The equipment will be used in the Recycling Unit for the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) of the municipality as part of its Solid Waste Management Plan.
The glass pulverizer will also be used to provide simple yet effective way to reduce space in the MRF that is also critical in managing solid wastes. The facility can now convert glass bottles that are being collected from the 21 barangays in Asingan into construction materials to make blocks for pathways in parks and other public places in the municipality.
Present during the activity were Asingan Municipal Mayor Carlos F. Lopez, Jr., Julian Ilumin of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), Marcos Aquino of Bestmark Agro-Industrial Enterprises (an innovator), and Science Research Specialist Jennifer C.
