The 3-day Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE) in the Ilocos Region successfully ended with the announcement of winners last October 2021 done via Zoom and Facebook Live.
Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Undersecretary for Regional Operations Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang commended the collaboration of the DOST Regional Office with Department of Science and Technology-Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) for the success of the 2021 RICE in Ilocos Region. He encouraged young minds to continue pushing through their with goals of listing Science and Technology, and Innovation (STI) for the betterment of society.
“Most importantly, I admire the interest of the youngbloods in STIs. May you keep the passion burning and may you continue the legacy that your predecessors have established. Your chosen path gives us hope that all our hardwork and aspirations will never be put to waste. You are the best and the brightest minds from all over the region. Through you, we will continue to celebrate scientific and technological breakthroughs for the years to come,” Usec. Mabborang uttered.

The winners will be moving forward to the National Invention Contest and Exhibits (NICE) next year. Meanwhile more inventions and S&T innovations, product knowledge, and services from the different DOST agencies will be showcased in the upcoming virtual celebration of the 2021 National Science and Technology Week from 22-28 November 2021. This year’s theme is ‘’Agham at Teknolohiya: Tugon sa Hamon ng Panahon’’, a reflection on how the DOST pivoted amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
