The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office XI (DOST-XI) held recently two-day Training on Halal Perspective in the Industry via Zoom to orient participants on the many opportunities that the halal industry offers.
A total of 75 participants, composed of personnel from various DOST Food Safety Teams (FST), Provincial Science and Technology Centers (PSTCs) and technical personnel of DOST Region XI and other DOST Regional Offices joined the event.
The objective of the activity was to equip the participants with the appropriate knowledge and skills on the Halal Concepts and Principles, Halal Assurance System (Philippine and Malaysian standards), and Halal Management System.
The speakers who shared their knowledge were experts in the Halal industry, namely: Prof. Analiza Flores-Malayang, former Commissioner III of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos; Lourdes S. Montevirgen, Norli L. Aidasani, and Charles Feb Q. Palla of the Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) of the Department of Science and Technology.
“This trainers’ training provides capacity-building to DOST-based personnel and affiliate to create a pool of human resource for the Halal Industry,” DOST-XI Regional Director and DOST Halal S&T Program Leader, Dr. Anthony C. Sales, CESO IIIsaid. He also encouraged the participants to practice what they have learned and that the training will be echoed to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Halal stakeholders.
The training is in line with the Human Resource Development (HRD) under the DOST Halal S&T Program. (DOST XI S&T Promotion)
