The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office V (DOST V) is all set to turn-over 2,500 of the Ready-to-Eat (RTE) Arroz Caldo on 19 November 2021 to the Municipalities of Viga and Pandan in the province of Catanduanes.
The Regional Office will also distribute 4,680 packs of Rice-Mongo-Sesame Blend for Complementary Feeding to 39 severely underweight Pre-school children also in Pandan, Catanduanes.
This forms part of the Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Program’s intervention on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.
The RTE Arroz Caldo are pre-positioned goods that will be included in food packs given to affected families during disasters which are easily prepared and consumed on the go. Meanwhile the turn-over of Rice-Mongo-Sesame Blend for Complementary Feeding is under the Health and Nutrition Intervention component of the Program that seeks to improve the nutritional status of severely underweight children to normal status.
