Cauayan City, Isabela – The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office II (DOST-II), through PSTC-Isabela, partners with 2nd Isabela Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) in the provision of of Php. 600,000 worth of assistance to Barangay Villaflor in Cauyan City, Isabela, under the Retooled Community Support Program of NTF-ELCAC.
The National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict or NTF-ELCAC is a whole-of-nation-approach program of the government to help communities caught in the middle of armed conflict. One community in Isabela is Barangay Villamor that has been identified by the PMFC as a “Rebel-Returnee” community.
DOST-II, with its mandate to provide assistance to marginalized communities through science and technology aims to give practical solutions to the 127 households’ problem of lack of access to basic government services and nearby water supply. The funding will also be used to provide livelihood projects, like the banana chips production and banana flour production, construction, and steady supply of potable water. Last month, Barangay Villaflor received the technology for potable water that would provide the community an easy access to water instead of their usual routine of traveling down the mountains to the nearest river.
