The Department of Science and Technology - Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI), in collaboration with the Provincial Science and Technology Center of Davao Oriental, introduced the bamboo-for-wellness products through the Bamboo Soap Making Technology Training conducted for selected participants in Davao Oriental last 17 March 2022 at the Baywalk Hotel, City of Mati.
The bamboo soap is just one of the bamboo-for-wellness products developed by DOST-FPRDI through the funding from the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD). This is part of DOST-FPRDI’s goal to promote the use of bamboo-based products in combatting COVID-19 in the Philippines.
DOST FPRDI also distributed a total of 200 packs of bamboo-based liquid and bar hand soap to DOPMC, CHO Mati, City of Mati LGU, PLGU Davao Oriental, PENRO and MLPOI last March 16, 2021.
The training was participated in by various sectors such as the academe, the government, and a civil society organization. The academe was represented by the Davao Oriental Regional Science High School (DORSHS), Rabat Rocamora Mati Central Elementary School II (RRMCES II), Rabat Rocamora Mati Central SPED School, Tarragona National High School, Paulina Gambong Abayon National High School, Mati School of Arts and Trades (MSAT), and Davao Oriental State University. Participants from the government sector include the City Agriculture's Office (CAO), City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
