The Department of Science and Technology Region XI (DOST XI) officially launched on 28 July 2020 the manual entitled “Pandemic Manual: A Procedures Manual on Prevention, Mitigation and Building Resilience to Epidemics and Pandemics.”

MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - Bukidnon, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Malaybalay, rolled out 12 newly approved grants-in-aid projects amounting to Php 4.8 million in the city under the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) program on 15 July 2020.

Unrelenting in its mission to fulfill the S&T initiatives of 4Ks (Kalusugan, Kaayusan, Kabuhayan, Kinabukasan) to minimize the chance oftransmission of the COVID-19virus, the Industrial Technology Development Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-ITDI)provided assistance to the Ospital ng Maynilawith basic personal protective equipment (PPE) such as 50 pieces 3D-printed face shields and also 50 pieces ear loop holders or ear relief bands thathelp minimize possible injuries and bruising among frontlinersdue to extended use of face masks.Apart from this, three (3) boxes (with total of 900 pouches) of Ready-To-Eat (RTE) Chicken Arroz Caldowere also donated to the hospital’s medical workers. The shelf-stable Arroz Caldo packed by Kai Anya Foods are easily consumed straight from the pouches without need for beverage or utensils.

Prior to SARS-CoV-2 virus and Extended Community Quarantine (ECQ) period, some students in the provinces get to appreciate science because of the Science Explorer and nuLab buses of the Science Education Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-SEI). These facilities bring science and laboratory experiences to the students in different parts of the country. However, with the current situation where mobility is limited and social distance needs to be observed, these buses will have to park temporarily. But this does not mean that students’ learning will also have to stop.
