In May 2016, the Department of Science and Technology - Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII) created DOSTv: The Filipino Weather Channel as its official online broadcast platform (airing live on Facebook) for science-based news and information for the benefit of the people.
A year after its cyberspace debut in 2016, DOSTv rebranded to DOSTv: Science For The People and aired over the state channel, People’s Television Network or PTV-4 from Monday to Friday at 9:30 a.m. and on cable and satellite TV through Global News Network (GNN) at 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. featuring different segments to raise awareness of and appreciation for DOST science-related programs and activities.
ExperTalk - a segment featuring an in-depth interview with Filipino scientists.
SineSiyensya - a documentary type segment, featuring success stories of beneficiaries of various DOST programs and projects.
Balitang RapiDOST - a comprehensive report on DOST events and programs.
NegoSiyensya - a lifestyle segment focusing on the stories of MSMEs and businesses assisted by DOST programs.
Sustansyarap - a cooking segment in partnership with DOST-FNRI featuring dishes and its health benefits.
SciFacts - a short trivia segment.
In 2019, DOSTv launched two new programs in addition to its daily show on PTV-4:
1. “DOSTv sa Radyo” the first live radio program produced by DOSTv aired on Radyo Pilipinas 1 (DZRB 738 AM), a state radio network. Hosted by former DOST Secretary, Prof. Fortunato T. de la Peña, with the then DOST Undersecretary for Scientific and Technical Services, Dr. Renato U. Solidum Jr., Former DOST-STII Director, Richard P. Burgos, and radio-host veteran, Onin Miranda. The program aired every Saturday, 4pm and ran until March 2020. The program ceased its production due to the pandemic in March 2020.
2. “Siyensikat: Pinoy Popular Science Para sa Lahat,” a telemagazine program on GMA News TV, a commercial TV Channel, featuring stories of how S&T interventions improved the lives of people and communities. The program was hosted by former DOST Secretary, Prof. Fortunato T. de la Pena. For two seasons, a total of 26 episodes aired on GMA News TV (now GTV) every Sunday, 4pm.
In 2020, operations ceased due to the pandemic lockdowns, but DOSTv quickly pivoted to produce and broadcast digital content with programs such as “DOST Report,” “Expertalk Online,” and “Bantay Bulkan” (Volcano Watch).
DOST REPORT - started as a platform for the reports of DOST accomplishment for the pandemic, the program became a flagship weekly public affairs program that delivers the latest updates, milestones, and breakthroughs from the Department of Science and Technology. Hosted in partnership with DOST officials, the show breaks down national S&T policies, programs, and innovations into accessible and engaging information for the Filipino public.
EXPERTALK ONLINE - is an educational and infotainment program that brings complex science topics closer to everyday audiences. Featuring experts, researchers, and innovators, the show explains scientific concepts through simple conversations, demonstrations, and real-life applications. From food safety to space science, health innovations to wildlife conservation, ExperTalk Online makes science fun, relatable, and useful—especially for students, teachers, and lifelong learners.
BANTAY BULKAN - DOSTv’s dedicated volcano watch program that provides real-time updates, expert insights, and science-based explanations on the country’s active volcanoes. In collaboration with DOST-PHIVOLCS, the show simplifies technical advisories, clarifies risks, and promotes preparedness through clear, calm, and factual reporting. Whether it’s alert level changes, volcanic activity, or safety reminders, Bantay Bulkan ensures communities receive accurate information that can save lives.

● In 2021, DOSTv launched “Animagham,” an animated science program for children.
● “Siyensikat” also had a comeback on Television via CNN Philippines.

Social Weather Station (SWS) National Survey findings show that Television is still the primary source of S&T information for our public, hence DOSTv aired ExperTalk on CNN Philippines and DOST Report on PTV-4 in 2023.
Due to the cessation of the operation of CNN Philippines, ExperTalk and Siyensikat switch to PTv-4.
1. ExperTalk (a 30-minute program that features science experts and nextgen experts about their works, journeys, challenges, and successes where they are “humanized” to serve as inspiration to the youth) every Saturday at 4:00pm on PTV-4;
2. Siyensikat: Pinoy Popular Science Para sa Lahat (a mini-documentary on how individuals, groups, and communities benefitted from science, technology, and innovation and how these changed their lives for the better) every Sunday at 10:30am on PTV-4; and
In 2024, DOSTv returned to the radio platform with its new program, Radyo Siyensya. Radyo Siyensya, sa DOST Konektado ka! (a one-hour radio program on the latest STI news co-anchored by the DOST Secretary with his take on pressing issues and updates on specific programs and projects of the DOST) aired every Saturday at 2:00pm on Radyo Pilipinas 1 (DZRB 738AM).
Currently, DOSTv carries five flagship programs:
RADIO
Radyo Siyensya, sa DOST Konektado ka! (a one-hour radio program on the latest STI news co-anchored by the DOST Secretary with his take on pressing issues and updates on specific programs and projects of the DOST) airing every Saturday at 2:00pm on Radyo Pilipinas 1 (DZRB 738AM);
TV
With the provision of additional budget for airing, ExperTalk and Siyensikat switched networks again, from PTV-4 to GTV (formerly GMA New TV).
ExperTalk is a science-based educational program produced by DOSTv, designed to make science engaging and accessible, particularly for younger audiences, aired every Saturday, 9am from June to August 2025.
Siyensikat: Pinoy Popular Science Para sa Lahat (a mini-documentary on how individuals, groups, and communities benefitted from science, technology, and innovation and how these changed their lives for the better) airing every Saturday 9am from September to December 2025.

Bantay Bulkan (a special segment that reports on activities of volcanoes in the country to provide important information to the public to enhance disaster preparedness and response efforts of communities and LGUs).

Balitang RapiDOST is a short, news update on the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) key programs and initiatives that have a real impact on communities.
Special Program
In 2025, DOSTv also aired a special project on GTV. Entitled, Science Pinas, the program is a science-travel show that features the scenic views and the amazing tourist attractions in different parts of the country as well as different science projects and innovations in the region that enhances the lives of the people. Science Pinas was hosted by Mark Wei and Riana Pangindian. It aired every Saturday, 9am from February to May 2025.
In 2026, in addition to Siyensikat: Pinoy Popular Science Para sa Lahat, Radyo Siyensya: Sa DOST Konektado Ka! and Bantay Bulkan, DOSTv presents new programs for its viewers.
DOST REPORT
Formerly Balitang RapiDOST, DOST Report is a short, news update on the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) key programs and initiatives that have a real impact on communities. Through fast, clear, and reliable reporting, it keeps the public informed about important DOST activities that drive progress, promote safety, and empower Filipinos nationwide.
NEGOSIYENSYA
NegoSiyensya is an infotainment program that showcases how science, technology, and innovation (ST&I) are used to support and transform local enterprises and community livelihoods. It features DOST-assisted projects, technologies, and success stories of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that have benefited from science-based solutions. Guided by the message, “Sa agham at teknolohiya, negosyo mo’y kikita, industriya’y aarangkada, buhay mo ay gaganda” the program affirms that ST&I is key to inclusive progress and sustainable development.
SCI.SAY
Sci.Sáy is a Filipino science podcast that answers everyday questions through the lens of science. Whether it’s about why the sky is blue, how vaccines work, or what makes a volcano erupt, Sci.Sáy breaks down complex topics into clear, engaging, and relatable conversations.
If you’ve ever asked “Bakit?”, Sci.Sáy is here to unveil the science behind it. Sci.Say is Science That Makes Sense… ang Siyensyang may Saysay!
Today, more than 2,000 DOSTv episodes are also available on-demand through its official website (www.dostv.ph), DOSTv app and on social media sites such as Facebook, TikTok and YouTube.
